Black Females in Architecture

Black Females in Architecture is a membership network of over 250 Black women that aims to increase the visibility of Black and Black-mixed heritage women and support them through their career development in the built environment.

Background

BFA was set-up in 2018 by four Black & Black-mixed heritage women in the industry (Alisha Morenike Fisher, Akua Danso, Neba Sere and Selasi Setufe). Based on their respective industries, networks and industry connection within the built environment, they decided to create a network to enable more Black women to be represented and acknowledged.

Since its launch, BFA has provided support to over 250 women globally and provides creative opportunities through workshops, projects and advocacy and outreach. In 2018, BFA evolved and started a voluntary team - making the BFA team grow to 13. In 2019 BFA became a Ltd.
